35-Mile Drive, also known as River Road West, follows the historic James River corridor through Goochland County in central Virgina.

With unrivaled scenic beauty, history, rural culture, arts and entertainment and sporting life, Goochland County is one of central Virginia’s best kept secrets.

35-Mile Drive began as an original feature series and collaboration between photographer Wayne Dementi and writer Aynsley Fisher. They followed River Road West, a Virginia scenic byway, from county line to county line for 35 miles along the historic James River corridor. The series appeared in the local newspaper, The Goochland Courier, over the course of a year and showcased things to do and places to see off the beaten path and in Richmond’s backyard.
